TITLE:                        Crisis Interventionist Worker   

FTE:                             Casual On-Call

PROGRAM:               Wellness Program

REPORTING TO:      Director of Wellness Program 

SUMMARY:

Under the supervision of the Director of Wellness Program, the Crisis Interventionist Worker is responsible to provide a quick coordinated response, in coordination with Blood Tribe Police Services, to community members who need assistance in the areas of family violence, sexual abuse, suicide, over dose and sudden death. The CIW will collaborate with on- and off-reserve services and will assist in delivering quality services to meet the community member’s needs relating to crisis situations. 

PROFESSIONAL AND PERSONAL QUALIFICATIONS:
  • Computer literacy skills.
  • Sound knowledge of the following techniques is required: crisis intervention, anger diffusion, conflict intervention and resolution, and use of chemical dependency diagnostic tools.
  • Knowledge of the Mental Health Act, the Child and Family Services Act and adherence to ethical and professional standards of conduct is required.
  • Demonstrated ability to assist patients, family members or other clients with concern and empathy; respecting their confidentiality and privacy and communicating in a courteous and respectful manner.
  • Strong morals and ethics, along with a commitment to privacy.
  • Minimum one-year experience. 
  • Trained in crisis intervention techniques.
  • Trained in First-Aid and CPR.
  • Knowledgeable of cause and effect of alcohol and drugs.
  • Knowledgeable in grief and loss.
  • Diploma in social work and/or professional training in Crisis Intervention/Prevention with a recognized college. 
  • Class 4 Drivers License. 
SALARY RANGE:

SUMMARY OF WORK:  

Under the direction of the Fire Chief or designate of the Blood Tribe Emergency Services, you are accountable to deliver fire suppression, prevention, respond to dangerous incidents, and medical calls as First Responders. The Fire Fighter is also responsible for operating and maintaining firefighting equipment, including vehicles, hoses, and the fire station. 

PROFESSIONAL AND PERSONAL QUALITIES 

  • Valid CPR/CPR an asset, however training will be provided
  • Grade 12 diploma or equivalent. 
  • Must hold a valid Class 5 Alberta Operator’s license 
  • Knowledge of the Blood Tribe culture and language an asset

Program: Bringing the Spirit Home (BTSH)
Reporting To: BTSH Director

Summary of Work:

The Bringing the Spirit Home Program provides hope for those who are affected by substance dependency.  Under the close supervision of a team of physicians, paramedics, counsellors, nurses, peer support workers and elders, the client’s path to recovery is carefully monitored based on their individual needs. Individuals will receive respectful and culturally-safe services in a safe and supportive environment. Under the direction of the Medical Director (Registered Physician) the Paramedics will provide high quality standard of care in accordance with their scope of practice and designation

Professional & Personal Qualities:
  • Successfully completed training as a Primary Care Paramedic or Advanced Care Paramedic from an approved program.
  • Registered with the Alberta College of Paramedics.
  • Valid CPR health care provider, and all qualifications that meet the requirements of the Health Professions Act and Regulations.
  • Must have a minimum of grade 12 diploma or equivalent.
  • Class 4 drivers licence with less than 6 demerits points or prohibition from driving under the criminal code. 
  • Knowledge of Blackfoot language and customs would be an asset.
Salary Range:
  • As per Blood Tribe Department of Health Inc. salary grid.

Reporting To: Nurse Manager or Registered Nurse/Licensed Practical Nurse on duty.

Summary of Work:

The Health Care Aide (HCA) reports directly to the Registered Nurse/ Licensed Practical Nurse on duty. Performs personal care activities; interacts with Residents, family, and staff in a positive and supportive manner.

Professional Qualifications:
  • Graduate of an approved/accredited HCA program
  • CPR certificate
  • First Aid certificate
  • Other certificates as required by program.
  • Related health care experience
  • Safe food handling certificate
Personal Qualities:
  • Shall be mature, pleasant, and exercise a high degree of initiative and judgment.
  • Must have the necessary communication and interpersonal skills to provide effective interaction between all persons, including coworkers.
  • Must act with integrity and treat all information regarding Residents, physicians, employees, and the financial and operational status of the organization as confidential.
  • Knowledge of the roles of the multidisciplinary team.
  • Knowledge of community resources preferred.
  • Application of proper body mechanic principles.
  • Able to set priorities in the face of multiple demands.
  • Able to provide and receive feedback.
  • Ability to function effectively in a dynamic environment.
  • Able to sit, walk, transfer, lift, carry equipment and supplies.
  • Must be fully immunized.
