Program: Facility Operations
Position: 1.0 Full Time Permanent
Reporting to: Facility Operations Director
Summary of Work:
The Maintenance Labourer will be responsible for performing general building and property maintenance. Maintain HVAC (heating, ventilation, and air conditioning), electrical, plumbing and mechanical systems and equipment. Responsible for performing duties to install, troubleshoot, repair and maintain equipment according to safety, predictive and productive maintenance systems and processes.
Professional Qualifications:
- Valid drivers licence with clean driving record, Class 5 Drivers Licence.
- Building trades certificate or equivalent desirable.
- Strong communication, and problem-solving skills, ability to follow instructions from supervisors or senior maintenance workers.
- Excellent computer skills is a must, as majority of HVAC system & CMMS is computerised.
- Knowledge of general carpentry and ability to use hand tools and power tools.
- Excellent organizational and time management skills.
Work Conditions
- 24/7 availability may be required
- Physical ability to lift up to 75lb
- Travel to the site, and off-site locations will be required
- Overtime as required
- Hazards associated with the trade
- Work both indoors and outdoors.

The Blood Tribe Department of Health Inc. (BTDH) is now accepting applications from interested Blood Tribe Members or external candidates to serve as a Director on the BTDH Board of Directors.
DIRECTOR-AT-LARGE
The Director-at-Large is appointed by a majority of Directors (comprising the three (3) Class “A” and (3) Class “B” Directors working together), which majority shall consist of at least two (2) of the Class “A” Directors and two of the (2) Class “B” Directors.
ELIGIBILITY TO APPLY AS DIRECTOR-AT-LARGE
The Director-at-Large:
- Need not be a Member of the Corporation, that is, need not be either a Class “A” Member or a Class “B” Member, but can be an external candidate;
- Must never have been declared incapable by a court in Canada or another country;
- Must not have the status of a “bankrupt”;
- Must not be an employee of BTDH, of any BTDH entity or Blood Tribe Administration;
- Must not, during the term immediately prior to the appointment, have been either terminated from the Board for lack of attendance or suspended from the Board in accordance with the Corporate By-Law;
- In addition to the eligibility requirements, the Board may determine any special or professional expertise required by the Director-at-Large. The Director-at-Large shall have: special or professional expertise in Health Services, Business Management, Accounting or Human Resources. Proof of such experience and/or education as well as work-related references will be required.
Any applicant who does not meet the eligibility requirements set out in paragraphs 1 to 6 above shall not be considered for appointment to the Board and the Board shall not consider such applicants.
CONDITIONS OF APPOINTMENT
Prior to being RATIFIED and APPOINTED to the Board, the Director-at-Large shall:
- Receive a letter of acknowledgment from the Chairperson setting out the requirements of formal recognition;
- Complete the BTDH Director’s Acceptance and Consent Form, which is set out in Schedule “A” to the Corporate By-Law;
- Complete the BTDH Director’s Conflict of Interest Questionnaire, and comply with all conflict of interest policies, which are incorporated into the Corporate By-law;
- Undergo a “Police Information Check”, also known as a “Security Clearance” with the Blood Tribe Police Services, and consent to the disclosure to the Board of any criminal record, pending and outstanding charges, outstanding warrants for arrest, records of not criminal responsible by reasons of Mental Disorder; judicial orders in effect (including probations, prohibitions, peace bonds and recognizance conditions), and vulnerable sector records, which disclosure must be satisfactory to the Board at its sole discretion;
- Swear or Affirm an Oath of Confidentiality, in the form set out in Schedule “2” to the Corporate By-law, at a meeting of the Board.
TERM OF OFFICE
The Director-At-Large shall hold office for a term expiring not later than the close of the next annual general meeting of Members.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
The Directors manage the activities and affairs of BTDH or supervise the management of the activities and affairs of BTDH. This is a very broad grant of authority.
The Board and each Director has a fiduciary duty to act in the best interests of BTDH, including acting with a view to the best interests of the people served by BTDH; acting for the sole benefit of the people served by BTDH; and making reasonable and prudent decisions concerning the management of the assets of BTDH. The overriding consideration for Directors in Board decisions are the purposes for which BTDH was created:
- To improve the quality of health on the Blood Indian Reserve;
- To promote the availability and education of adequate health care services for the members of the Blood Band; and
- To initiate, develop, establish and maintain policies, procedures, projects, programs and any other activities and initiations relating directly or indirectly to the betterment of health and healthcare services for the members of the Blood Band.

Summary of Work:
The Licensed Practical Nurse contributes to the assessment, planning, implementation, and evaluation of Resident care while applying nursing practice standards set by the College of Licensed Practical Nurses of Alberta (CLPNA). Provide appropriate and safe care to Residents. encourage independence and self-care, and performs other duties as requested.
Professional & Personal Qualities:
- Current registration and in good standing with the College of Licensed Practical Nurses of Alberta.
- Other certifications/competencies as required by the registering body and the Organization.
- Current CPR certification, to be re-certified annually.
- Current First Aid certification, to be re-certified every three years.
- Have the necessary communication and interpersonal skills to provide effective interaction between all persons, including coworkers.
- Have effective organizational skills.
- Be able and willing to work within a multidisciplinary team environment
- Ability to:
- Function independently and effectively in a dynamic environment.
- Set priorities in the face of multiple demands.
- Assume responsibility to maintain or improve personal health and well-being.
- Able to provide and receive constructive feedback.
Salary Range:

Summary of Work:
The Registered Nurse observes, assesses, monitors, and documents the Resident’s symptoms, reactions, and progress. They coordinate and provide nursing care by applying nursing practice standards set by the College of Registered Nurses of Alberta (CRNA) and provide appropriate and safe care to Residents; encourage independence and self-care, and perform other duties as requested.

Summary of Work:
Under the direction of the Director of Community Health Services, the Community Health Nurse provides nursing and health programs in accordance to guidelines from Indigenous Services Canada (ISC) Policy & Procedures and those programs established by the Blood Tribe Department of Health Inc.; improves, restores and maintains the health and quality of life of the community; provides information on health care and health issues; acts as a liaison with outside and internal agencies; provides necessary treatment in emergency situations; participates in the design, review and evaluation of existing programs and future programming; notifies Director of CHS of all situations concerning health care and the operations of the health unit; provides reports as established and performs other related duties.
Professional & Personal Qualities:
- Bachelor of Nursing Degree
- Current registration with CRNA
- WHIMIS & TDG
- Standard First Aid
- Certification in basic CPR
- Minimum three (3) years’ work experience in the area of community health or one-year hospital work experience.
- Valid Class 4 Driver’s License
- Innoculist Certification.
- Ability and willingness to work independently and/or in a team-focused environment
- Ability and willingness to work within an interdisciplinary team environment including community agencies, government officials, co-workers, and outside agencies
- Flexibility in programming and functions to meet challenges of ever-changing environment, community needs and crisis situations
- Ability to provide educational services to the community at large schools and agencies
- Ability to work with a diverse scope of clients and their families
- Ability to communicate in Blackfoot an asset, must have some knowledge of the Blackfoot culture, language and protocols.
