POSITION: Licensed Practical Nurse
FTE: 1.0 Full Time Permanent
PROGRAM: Community Health
REPORTING TO: Community Health Director
SUMMARY OF WORK:
Under the direction of the Director of Community Health Services, the Licensed Practical Nurse is responsible to assist in providing nursing and health programs in accordance to guidelines from Indigenous Services Canada (ISC) Policy & Procedures and those programs established by the Blood Tribe Department of Health Inc. As part of an interprofessional health care team, you will be responsible to utilize nursing skills, critical thinking, problem solving and decision-making skills. The LPN will play a key role in providing quality client centered care within our Kainai Diabetes Program in a chronic disease management role, utilizing skills in both health promotion and direct client care to help with chronic diseases such as diabetes and kidney disease in our community.
PROFESSIONAL & PERSONAL QUALIFICATIONS:
- Completion of an accredited practical nurse education program. Active or eligible for registration and practice permit with the College of Licensed Practical Nurses of Alberta (CLPNA).
- Current Basic Cardiac Life Support – Health Care Provider (BCLS-HCP)
- Certified Diabetes Educator (CDE) an Asset
- Have or willing to obtain a current Class 4 Driver’s license and clean drivers abstract
- Have necessary communication and interpersonal skills to provide effective interaction
- Set priorities in the face of multiple demands
- Have organizational skills
- Have time management skills
- Ability to function independently and effectively in a dynamic environment.
- Apply proper body mechanic principles.
- Able to sit, walk, transfer, life, carry equipment and supplies.
- Assume responsibility to maintain or improve personal health and well-being.
- Able to provide and receive constructive feedback.
SALARY RANGE:
- In accordance with the Blood Tribe Department of Health Inc. Salary Grid
