Hours of Work: 7.5 hours
Shift Pattern: Monday to Friday – 0830-1630
Salary/Benefits: As per United Nurses of Alberta Collective Agreement
Start Date: Negotiable

Summary of Work:

Under the direction of the Director of Community Health Services, the Community Health Nurse provides nursing and health programs in accordance to guidelines from Indigenous Services Canada (ISC) Policy & Procedures and those programs established by the Blood Tribe Department of Health Inc.; improves, restores and maintains the health and quality of life of the community; provides information on health care and health issues; acts as a liaison with outside and internal agencies; provides necessary treatment in emergency situations; participates in the design, review and evaluation of existing programs and future programming; notifies Director of CHS of all situations concerning  health care and the operations of the health unit; provides reports as established and performs other related duties.

Professional & Personal Qualities:
  • Bachelor of Nursing Degree
  • Current registration with CRNA
  • WHIMIS & TDG
  • Standard First Aid
  • Certification in basic CPR
  • Minimum three (3) years’ work experience in the area of community health or one-year hospital work experience.
  • Valid Class 4 Driver’s License
  • Innoculist Certification.
  • Ability and willingness to work independently and/or in a team-focused environment
  • Ability and willingness to work within an interdisciplinary team environment including community agencies, government officials, co-workers, and outside agencies
  • Flexibility in programming and functions to meet challenges of ever-changing environment, community needs and crisis situations
  • Ability to provide educational services to the community at large schools and agencies
  • Ability to work with a diverse scope of clients and their families
  • Ability to communicate in Blackfoot an asset, must have some knowledge of the Blackfoot culture, language and protocols.
