AHS-Novel Coronavirus (COVID19) Updates

BTDH – Isolation Units

In response to COVID-19 the Blood Tribe Department of Health (BTDH) has been working to support individuals who may require isolation. At this time, the BTDH has temporarily acquired the Flamingo Hotel in Cardston to allow for proper isolation of community members.

In order to qualify for a referral to the Flamingo Hotel, an individual must:

  • be showing active symptoms of COVID-19;
  • not be able to isolate at home appropriately; and
  • be a local community member.

In order to make a referral, please call 403-737-8411 to begin the process. Admissions will be determined by a charge nurse from 0800 to 1600 hours. Self-referrals will not be accepted.

If you have any further questions, please direct them to 403-737-8411.

Mental Health Resources

The Wellness Centre Mental Health and Addictions Program is adhering to the guidelines and practicing social distancing.  As a result, our Mental Health Clinical Team is currently providing the following:

  • Telephone Counselling Sessions - to current clients and COVID-19 hotline referrals.
  • Activity Care Packages – for children, adults and elders.

The Mental Health Clinical Team is in the planning stages of setting up virtual tele-counselling support services to community members during the COVID-19 pandemic.

The Wellness Centre Mental Health/Clinical team has a vital role to play during this pandemic and are keeping our morale high so that we remain composed and focused to provide the best services to Blood Tribe Members. The Wellness Program is also willing to develop collaboration with other departments to provide support services.
