SUMMARY OF WORK:
The Communication Specialist will be responsible for the implementation of the Blood Tribe Department of Health Inc., (BTDH) Communication Strategic Plan and communicating the health priorities of the organization. The Specialist will be responsible for advancing the visibility and impact of the organization to Blood Tribe community members, staff, clients, shareholders and media. This position, will work closely with the BTDH program Directors, Managers and administrative staff to ensure programming, services and health promotion are strategically communicated across various platforms. The position will draft communications and media materials including editorial stories, news releases, briefing notes, speeches as well as produce and disseminate written materials for internal and external publications and all online communications tools, including the BTDH website and social media accounts.
PROFESSIONAL QUALIFICATIONS:
- Post-Secondary Education in Communications, Public Relations, Journalism or related discipline.
- Minimum of 2-3 years of direct work experience in a communications or public relations capacity.
- Exceptional skills in writing, editing, visual design, and producing various communication materials are required, along with strong experience in developing and executing integrated health communication campaigns across multiple channels, including social media, websites, and email.
- Media relations experience and proficiency in design and management tools, with expertise in Adobe Creative Suites as an asset.
- Demonstrated experience in event planning, advanced content creation skills, and strong interpersonal skills for building relationships with diverse stakeholders.
- Ability to distill complex information into clear messages, have knowledge of social media trends and digital marketing, and possess excellent organizational and time management skills.
- Must have strong knowledge of Blackfoot culture, tradition and language.
- Must have a class 5 driver’s license and reliable transportation
- Must be willing to travel and able to work some evenings and weekends as required.
SALARY RANGE:
- In accordance with the Blood Tribe Department of Health Salary Grid.
