REPORTING TO: Director of Wellness Program
SUMMARY:
Under the supervision of the Director of Wellness Program, the Crisis Interventionist Worker is responsible to provide a quick coordinated response, in coordination with Blood Tribe Police Services, to community members who need assistance in the areas of family violence, sexual abuse, suicide, over dose and sudden death. The CIW will collaborate with on- and off-reserve services and will assist in delivering quality services to meet the community member’s needs relating to crisis situations.
PROFESSIONAL AND PERSONAL QUALIFICATIONS:
- Computer literacy skills.
- Sound knowledge of the following techniques is required: crisis intervention, anger diffusion, conflict intervention and resolution, and use of chemical dependency diagnostic tools.
- Knowledge of the Mental Health Act, the Child and Family Services Act and adherence to ethical and professional standards of conduct is required.
- Demonstrated ability to assist patients, family members or other clients with concern and empathy; respecting their confidentiality and privacy and communicating in a courteous and respectful manner.
- Strong morals and ethics, along with a commitment to privacy.
- Minimum one-year experience.
- Trained in crisis intervention techniques.
- Trained in First-Aid and CPR.
- Knowledgeable of cause and effect of alcohol and drugs.
- Knowledgeable in grief and loss.
- Diploma in social work and/or professional training in Crisis Intervention/Prevention with a recognized college.
- Class 4 Drivers License.
SALARY RANGE:
- Salary Grid as established by BTDH.

Reporting to: Wellness Program DirectorSummary of Work:
Transport all scheduled clients to and from Day Treatment Program. Driver is to possess an excellent driving record and good comprehension skills. Driver will maintain professionalism and adhere to strict confidentiality ethics regarding all clients and employees. The Driver will have the ability to drive for long periods and travel distances as required. Driving is required during business hours and when deemed after hours and some weekends.
General Duties and Responsibilities
- Ensure client safety by adhering to all Alberta Provincials Highway Laws, road signs and speed limits.
- Good communication skills between Day Treatment and Wellness Program Employees, Passengers and general public.
- Keep Wellness Program Vehicles maintained, cleaned at all times and fueled.
- Assist Day Treatment/Wellness Program Employees with other duties as required.
Professional & Personal Qualifications:
- Current CPR and First Aid certificate
- Naloxone Training
- Current Class 4 License
- Minimum of 2-5year’s experience
Salary Range:
- In accordance with the Blood Tribe Department of Health salary grid.
