Health Care Aide-Casual Home Care

SUMMARY OF WORK

Health Care Aides are valued members of the health-care team and provide essential and important daily living support and comfort to Clients by:

  • Providing personal assistance and support for the Clients. 
  • Providing appropriate and safe care to Clients. 
  • Encouraging independence and self-care.

The Health Care Aide will report directly to the HCA Supervisor and interacts with Clients, family and employees with a positive and supportive manner.

PROFESSIONAL & PERSONAL QUALIFICATIONS

  • Certificate from an approved accredited Health Care Aide program.
  • Current registration with the Alberta Health Care Aide Directory.
  • Current Class 4 Driver’s License and clean Driver’s Abstract.
  • Other certifications/competencies as required by the Organization.
    • Current CPR certification, to be re-certified annually.
    • Current First Aid certification, to be re-certified every three years.
    • Safe food handling certificate.
    • Medication Assistant Program certificate.
  • Have necessary communication and interpersonal skills to provide effective interaction between all persons, including coworkers.
  • Have effective organizational skills.
  • Have time management skills.
  • Ability to:
    • Work within a multidisciplinary team environment.
    • Function independently and effectively in a dynamic environment.
    • Set priorities in the face of multiple demands.
  • Assume responsibility to maintain or improve personal health and well-being.
  • Able to provide and receive constructive feedback.

SALARY RANGE:                                                                                                                             

  • In accordance with the Blood Tribe Department of Health Inc. Salary Grid.
