The Blood Tribe Department of Health Inc. offers many programs to the Blood Tribe Community. One of which is the Blood Tribe Counseling Services. Since 1985, The Counseling Services Department (now known as the Kainai Wellness Centre) has expanded and includes the following programs:

  • NNADAP, National Native Alcohol and Drug Abuse Program
  • Crisis Intervention/Prevention
  • Mental Health
  • Turning-point Counseling and Consulting Inc.
  • Interagency/Brighter Futures
  • Prevention of Family Violence / Aisiimohki (Discipline) Program
  • Red Cross
  • First Steps for Healthy Babies

Objectives
To maximize, using holistic approaches, the health and wellness of all members of the Blood Tribe

Mission Statement
To achieve and maintain the best possible level of physical, mental, emotional and spiritual health for all members of the blood tribe now and in the future.
Kainai Wellness Centre Support Services are responsible for providing administrative support for all Staff of Kainai Wellness Centre.

N.N.A.D.A.P.:
National Native Alcohol and Drug Abuse Program – Band Council Resolution passed in September 1985 to provide Counseling and referral services to Blood Tribe members who have problems related to the abuse of alcohol and drugs.

Executive Assistant Support Services
Kainai Wellness Centre Support Services are responsible for providing administrative support for all Staff of Kainai Wellness Centre.

Crisis Intervention and Prevention:
The Unit will network with the emergency services to have onsite crisis Counseling, and prepare follow-up for the individual and the families of the Blood Tribe, (18 years and older, family violence, suicide. sexual abuse, sudden death, overdose victims)

Interagency & Brighter Futures Program
Improving communication and cooperation amongst the Blood Tribe departments, entities and organizations within the community by enhancing services and programs and addressing issues and concerns. Also developing joint ventures and initiatives through networking to ensure a safe, healthy and prosperous community for all of the Blood Tribe. The Blood Tribe Interagency consists of all Departments, Agencies and Area Districts within the Blood Tribe. The Group strives to enhance collaboration and communication

Prevention of Family Violence Program/ C.O.P. – Aisiimoki (Discipline) & Kainai Youth Justice Program:

The purpose is to reduce the high prevalence of domestic violence and other criminal behavior on the Blood Reserve using Traditional Methods.

Mental Health
Our primary focus is to include the four aspects of well being of the individual, family, marriage, and or the community. With our qualified and professional staff of Native and Non-Native background, we offer our services to the Blood Tribe community.

Turning Point Counseling
Is our contracted therapists: Their services include individual and family therapy and group sessions.

First Steps for Healthy Babies
The first Steps for healthy Babies program provides an intensive mentorship program that meet the following criteria:

  • They are pregnant or up to six-weeks postpartum and have used alcohol/drugs during pregnancy or
  • Have previously had a child diagnosed with Fetal Alcohol Spectrum Disorder (FASD) or
  • Have been diagnosed with FADS or strongly suspect to have FASD and are ineffectively connected to community services.

Our goal is to reduce the high ratio of alcohol-related births in The Blood Tribe communities Activity Implement an early intervention and advocacy program for high-risk women.
